Happy 1st Birthday Epic Magazine – Celebrating One Wonderful Year
One year ago, Epic Magazine was born.
An year ago, on this auspicious day of Love i.e Valentine’s day, Epic Magazine came into existence !
Yeah, It is Epic Magazine’s birthday! One year has passed since the launch of Epic Magazine and we couldn’t have been achieved so much in so little without done without your love and support. We could write articles whole day-night, but if you weren’t there to read, respond and give feedback, encourage us, etc, it wouldn’t be worth it. So, I thank all the readers from bottom of my heart, it’s been a wonderful year and we owe that to you!
Epic Magazine was actually born on January 29, 2012. It was struggling to come to light and that epic thing happened on Feb 14, 2012. So, we decided to keep this day as the Official Birthday of Epic Magazine.
The Backstory
It all started three years ago, when I used to blog on blogger, a free blogging service. I had never blogged before and wasn’t aware of what I was going into. I learnt things from ProBlogger, BloggerStop, etc. Years passed and I thought of starting something Epic where I can share what I know. I was ready to start but the problem was funds. I did part-time jobs, collected some money, but soon realizedthat to do an online payment you need to have a Credit Card, which I didn’t have. At that time, I met my old college mate, Nitesh Kunnath, Admin at GizmoLord, who helped me with the online payment processing. With his help I bought ‘epicmagazine.net’ and Hosting at HostGator on January 29, 2012. On Feb 14, Epic Magazine was up and live on the internet.
The Name
The name Epic Magazine was inspired by SmashingMagazine and The Epic Movie. This happened when I was reading an article on SmashingMagazine and at the same time on another tab The Epic Movie was being downloaded. Though Epic Magazine was already famous in the name of Epic Illustrated Magazine on the web, I wasn’t ready to give this name up.
The Epic Logo
In the search of a good Logo and banner for Epic Magazine, I learnt Photoshop, made logos and banners with the help of it. And, that helped is helping me even now.
The Epic Forum
Our old readers must be knowing about the Forum Epic Magazine had. It was discontinued due to some problems. We’re planning to restart it and that may happen soon. If you’re interested to be Moderator of the upcoming Epic Forum, please contact us as soon as possible.
Our Strength
The Epic Editorial Staff itself is our greatest strength. We have some Epic people in the team who have contributed for the site without any compromise in the quality.
The Ups and Downs
During this Epic journey of the site, Epic Magazine too faced lots of ups and downs. If you were a regular reader you must be aware about it. The site was down for more than a month due to insufficient funds for Hosting. I was facing some bad days in my Life which was affecting Epic Magazine indirectly. Anyways they’re past now.
Social Media
At the beginning, I wasn’t aware that how important social media branding was. If I knew about it earlier, Epic Magazine would have been known by some other name . Saying this , I don’t rule out the possibility of it happening in the future too. Today, Epic Magazine has over 2000 fans on Facebook, 400 followers on Twitter and 50 Followers on Pinterest.

24th January : The name ‘Epic Magazine’ finalized
29th January : Purchased EpicMagazine.Net Domain
4th February : Started work on the theme for EM.
14th February : Epic Magazine is Live
9th March : EM moves from Hostgator to MDD Hosting
6th May: EM has Google PageRank 1
3rd September: EM’s Bad day starts
15th September: EM is Down, PR Dropped
3rd October: EM moves to StableHost
4th October: EM is back and Live
8th October: EM has a Custom Responsive Design
10th November: EM retians its lost PR
26th November: EM has its own Short URL ‘emgz.in’
26th December: Owned EpicMagazine.co, .in, .biz, .us and EpicMagazineClub.com
